Definitions
The Miriam Webster dictionary defined the following World as the secular affairs of the system of created thingsChurch as the clergy or officialdom of a religious body.
Objectives
To drive home the understanding of today’s worldTo drive home the urgency in the rising of the churchTo harness both the individuals and the collectives as a church.
Titus 1: 10-14 (NIV)
10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.
11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain.
12 One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.
”13 This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith
14 and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.
The composition of the contemporary world
1. Neo-paganism: these are modern religious movements that seek to incorporate ritualistic beliefs or practices from traditions outside the mainstream global religions. ( eg. Belief in the air, earth)
2. Relativism: this is characterized by “your truth”, “my truth” mindset, it’s my life …
3. Nomophobia: the fear or uneasiness of being without a functional mobile phone.
4. Self-spirituality: I believe in myself, believe in yourself parlance.
5. New Age Movement: whateverism, feel-goodism
The impact on the world.
Sexual revolutionFamiliarity
The gospel of Jesus Christ is too simple to save them
How do we communicate the gospel as a church“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than Christ.” ( Col. 2:8)
Let them know we are coming with the message that Jesus is the Only way to salvation
Accept that you are human and need help (Holy Spirit) – Isaiah 41:14
(Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord)
Hebrews 10:24-25
(and let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…)
You are the church
As a church, you must
1. Spur others up toward love (John 13: 34-35)
2. Do good (Psalms 34:14)
3. Meet together
You are that clergyman the crazy world is waiting for
1. Be a radical clergyman
2. Dissect the word of God
You are that matter that has to fill the lacuna of the world
1. When the ties are smooth (just as beholding in the mirror), reflect.
2.When it is crooked, refract.
So, if the world around us is like this, and you have completed a semester, a trimester, a paper, a week successfully.
Once the Lord has chosen you, he is faithful to not let you down, therefore
Psalms 100: 4 says:
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his court with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Glory to God for the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ.
